​It all began with a simple but powerful statement from the boss:
"Let's make clothes from scratch, from our own cotton and with our own hands."

With zero knowledge of agriculture or creating our own textiles, we worked day after day, tilling the soil, trying to grow cotton and then somehow spin it into thread. It was an extreme challenge riddled with failure, but little-by-little it began to take shape.


The dream was to make jeans from our own organic cotton.

 

From the sowing of the seeds to producing an actual pair of jeans, we wanted to do everything with our own hands.

The number of failures and detours was uncountable, but every time there were people around us who supported us, and we were (very) slowly able to make incremental gains and learn a bit more each time thanks to the understanding and warm cooperation of the local community. Gradually, our little cotton-growing circle began to expand.

The number of fields we used began to grow, we got ourself a real tractor, and the annual harvests were now giving us an immense sense of accomplishment. And now, with the completion of the SASAYAMA COTTON BASE, we also have small spaces for spinning and dyeing.
