We'd like to tell you a little about the cotton grown at Samurai Cotton Fields. Firstly, what is cotton? What is the Samurai Cotton Project? We hope you'll find it as fascinating as we do.
It's time for your own cotton ginning experience to begin. You'll first unravel the cotton by hand and use the rotating cotton gin to extract the seeds hidden within. This is the first step in making thread.
The cotton you gin with your own hands will be used to stuff this cute, fluffy, one-of-a-kind mini cushion, becoming tangible memory of this experience you can take home with you.
Dyeing Experience
Using natural dyes unique to Tamba Sasayama City
Choose your item
No prep needed - just bring yourself!
The dyeing process uses black soybeans and the broth from Tamba chestnuts, both of which are grown in the local Tamba area.
Choose the item you want to dye: a T-shirt, a tote bag, a bandana, or socks featuring the SASAYAMA COTTON BASE original logo.
We will provide everything you need for the experience, but please wear clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty or stained.
Try your hand at design dyeing
Children, families, and beginners are all welcome!
We hope you can enjoy an awesome and relaxing time chatting with everyone and getting creative.
We'll show you how to make your own unique design using chopsticks or marbles, and you can take home what you create that day.
Experience Menu
Capacity: 4 people
This experience is designed for participants above elementary school age.
Course A - Bandana or Sock Dyeing
¥5,500 (Adults) / ¥3,300 (Junior High School students and younger)
2-hour session, 1-4 people allowed
This session uses bandanas, a classic dyeing item that is fun to work with for everyone, from children to adults. Includes a mini cushion filled with cotton picked during the cotton ginning experience and an eco-friendly tote bag.
Course B - Tote Bag or T-Shirt Dyeing
¥7,700 (Adults) / ¥5,500 (Junior High School students and younger)
2-hour session, 1-4 people allowed
Choose either a tote bag perfect for everyday use like quick trips or shopping, or a short-sleeved T-shirt which can be dyed in any color, including uneven or gradient dyeing. Includes a mini cushion filled with cotton picked during the cotton ginning experience and a denim tote bag.
Cotton Ginning Experience
Cotton harvested at the Samurai Cotton fields is separated into seeds and fibers using a special machine.

Clothing
